PvP options
A PvP option is a second layer of options on top of everything an item already carries. It replaces neither the excellent options nor the Jewel of Harmony option and is counted separately from both. It has three levels, and only the Chaos Goblin hands them out.
Which option an item gets is not a lottery. It is fixed by the slot: weapons deal damage, armour keeps you alive, pendants give shield.
What an item gets
Every item gets two options at once, and both grow with the level.
| Item | First option | Second option |
|---|---|---|
| Melee weapons, bows, crossbows, wings, capes | Additional physical damage | Additional damage against players |
| Staffs, sticks and books | Additional wizardry damage | Additional damage against players |
| Helm, armour, pants, gloves, boots, shields, rings | Defensive skill | Max HP |
| Pendants (except the Moonstone Pendant) | Additional damage against players | Max SD |
Every wing and every cape is in, without exception: 1st, 2nd and 3rd wings, Cape of Lord, Cape of Emperor, the Rage Fighter's Cloak of Warrior and Cape of Overrule, the small wings and capes as well. The Moonstone Pendant, unlike the other pendants, gets defensive skill and max HP. Earrings, pets and mounts take no PvP option.

Damage against players and additional physical damage are not the same thing. Physical damage always works, monsters included. Damage against players does nothing while hunting and only adds up in a fight against another player. Defensive skill also works only against players - against monsters only the max HP half helps.
What it is worth
The numbers below are the total at each level, not a step on top of the previous one.
| Option | Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Additional physical damage | 250 | 500 | 750 |
| Additional wizardry damage | 250 | 500 | 750 |
| Additional damage against players | 25 | 50 | 75 |
| Defensive skill | 100 | 200 | 300 |
| Max HP | 500 | 1000 | 1500 |
| Max SD | 700 | 1400 | 2100 |
What the item must be
- Upgraded to +11 or higher.
- A weapon, shield, armour piece, wings or a cape also needs an additional option - at least its first step. Rings, pendants and the Cape of Lord do not; the upgrade level is enough.
- Below PvP option level three: an item at the cap is no longer taken by the mix.
How to put it on
The mix is made at the Chaos Goblin out of four things: the item itself and three jewels.

Exactly one of each jewel. The mix costs 2,500,000 zen plus the castle owner's tax. The chance is 30%.

A Talisman of Luck raises the chance by 1% each, up to ten at a time - with eleven or more the mix is refused.
The same mix both grants the option and upgrades it: 0 -> 1 -> 2 -> 3.
Failure
The item survives, and its upgrade level and other options are left alone. But the PvP option burns off completely rather than dropping back one level.
That is the real risk. A failed first attempt costs nothing but the jewels and the zen. A failure going from level two to level three takes both levels at once, and it all starts from zero again.
