Bosses and quest

It's me again!

To give some context: I'm on quest 143 right now, which is "Maelstorm Terror".

This morning I was on a party with another player killing it, but at the very end, one of my dearest friends on the game, killed me just before the boss was defeated, and I didn't get the quest done, which is fair, is part of the game.

But just a few minutes ago, I went to Atlas to give it a second try, with a couple of other players and we killed Maelstorm Terror. We were not in a party, and I was the second-highest in terms of damage. However, when we killed the monster, the quest was not completed.

Is this how it's supposed to work? I mean, it's a boss that appears every 6 hours. Shouldn't it be enough that, as long as you deal damage to the boss and it's defeated while you're still alive, it counts as "quest done"?

Thanks for the detailed report, and sorry the second attempt didn’t count.

This is how it is meant to work, and it was announced in the update notes. A boss quest goes to the player who dealt the most damage to the boss. It doesn’t matter whether you are in a party or not, or how many people were hitting it.

We did look at other options, such as “everyone who hit the boss and is alive at the end gets it”. But MU Online players are very inventive, and any looser rule soon turns into a shortcut: one tap on the boss from a safe corner and the quest is done. The server and its content aren’t endless, so we try to keep progress something you actually earn. That also keeps the game interesting for longer.

Quests matter a lot on our server: the points they give make up for a large part of what resets give. That is why the important ones need real effort. So yes, we all suffer together here =)

My advice for Maelstorm Terror: bring friends who already have this quest done, or who don’t need it, and let them support you while you deal the damage. Then the kill is yours.
